About This Product
The Orient pear is a cross breed of an Asian and European pear. As a result of the blend, it offers some appealing attributes and a reputation for beauty. It is blight resistant and bears heavy crops. It produces large, semi-hard fruit. The pears have a yellow, thick skin and a creamy, fine flesh with a sweet but mild flavor. When they ripen in late summer they can be used for canning or eaten fresh off the tree. The Orient requires 350 chill hours and is hardy in USDA Zones 5-8. It grows up to 20 ft. tall and requires a pollinater such as the Baldwin or Kieffer. The tree is shipped in a #5 pot with a minimum tree height of 24 in.
